Privet Igor,

Does you know of a good Russian-English dictionary that has pronunciation! This has been very difficult for me to find. I know how to read Cyrillic decent, but still have not learned all the pronunciation rules, so until I do, I would like to learn a lot of words and be able to pronounce them correctly.

I very much want to accelerate my learning curve in Russian to be conversational, learn the grammatical rules and cases and understand the spelling rules. I can read Cyriliic somewhat but I don't know all the rules and seem to get the stress wrong a lot, but once I hear it, my pronunciation I have been told is good. Question: Are all cases in Russian used often or would you recommend I learn some first or all? This is diffiult but I am starting to see some patters and I know I just need to be patient and practice, practice, practice everyday! I do this faithfully and I think my fluent Spanish helps as I recognize many words that sound Spanish with slight pronunciation variations. Of course, I also have little problem with the rolling r sound in Russian.

Any advice on books or methodology for taking the next steps in Russian and accelerating my learning curve I woud appreciate very much!

Balshoya Spassiba Igor!

I very much appreciate any help you can give me.

Hello,

My wife is a English and Russian teacher and she is starting to offer tutoring over the Internet (using video feature of www.skype.com).

So you are able to  talk  (  to listen to pronunciation, get instructions on saying sounds and have your errors corrected)
to see the teacher saying sounds and words
to type  and have your words checked.

But first of all she offers teaching services that include all aspects of language: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
I would advise you to give it a try.

You can contact me privately at hitranslatorspecialsigngmail.com (change "specialsign" with you know what).

Regards,
Igor

RoughGuides Phrasebook in russian has great English-Russian translation.

In the English half they have the english word then the Russian word in cyrilic alphabet and then they have the Russian word in the roman alphabet and they will have the stress in bold type.

The russian half is the same.  First in Russian cyrilic then Russian in the roman alphabet with the stress in bold and then the English word

The begining has a few basic phrase pages and then some phrases grouped by where you might need them like airport. direction, emmergancy.

The end of the book has about 40 pages dedicated to how the language works.   including lists of numbers months and so on
