I livein Ukrainian Village in Chicago, and there is a sign posted on someone's door that reads, 'no baza'. Is this Ukrainian? If so, what does it mean? Thank you-- this baffles my husband and I daily...

There is a word 'baza' in Ukrainian but not sure what it can mean on the door... Can you get a photo?

Could it simply be a purposely misspelled English words(No baza = Do not bother/Do not disturb)?
Just a thought.

I can only guess. I think there is a missing letter - "r" (bazar). We can translate it as "do not make a market of". If we say about a slang ... it can be translated as 'without gabbing" in the enlarged sense of the world. But I need more information and is that sign written in English?

Maybe they meant to say "It's not a tourist camp"?
"baza" might be a transliteration of the Russian or Ukrainian word "база".
Those Ukrainians probably got sick and tired of people asking them whether it's possible to stay over a night here or not =)
That's only a suggestion
