I've been searching some Russian web sites and getting along ok with machine translations, but some Russian text does not translate.  For example, this web page has Russian text, but nothing translates.  Do you know how I might translate text like this?

http://www.realmusic.ru/lidusik/9575/

Thanks for any suggestions.

Druzja                                                               Friends

Ja nedavno poterjala svoix lutwix druzej,                  I recently lost my friends
V zamen 4uvstvo pojavilosj-                                    I noticed a feeling appeared
Otkrilasj v Ad dlja menja dverj.                                A door to hell was opened for me
Ja neznala 4to mne delatj,                                     I didn't know what to do
Kuda idti?                                                            Where to go
K komu idti?                                                         who to run to
Mozet prosto vsjo zabisj,                                        maybe I should just forget it all
I novix druzej najti?                                               And find new friends
No ja xo4u ostatsja s nimi,                                      But I want to remain with them
Xo4u druzitj, guljatj, ljubitj.                                     I want to make friends, hang out, and love
S temi kto so mnoj druzili,                                       with those who made friends with me
S temi kto menja ljubil.                                           with those who loved me
No oni so mnoj ne druzat-                                       but they aren't making friends with me
Nenavidjat, izbegajut.                                             They hate, and abandon
V svoix misljax obsirajut,                                           in their thoughts they (obsirajut)
To estj prosto otwivajut.                                         in other words they just (otwivajut)

I don't know the words in parenthasis If I had them in russian letterss I could tell you, but this an interesting english transliteration.

Thanks Corey!

So my follow-up question is, how did you read the Russian text?  Is there some software that will convert this text to Cyrillic characters?  And how did you translate it, can an automatic engine be used?

Like I said there was a couple of words that I couldn't read. The way I did it is by just reading it and translating because I know russian, but I tried to find a way to convert it, but I couldn't find one. If you want I can write the text that I do understand in cyrillic letters

Thanks again for your help Corey.

Ok, so are your saying this is just phonetic notation for the Russian words?  So I guess it's not in any standard character notation that can be translated by a software program?

thats right. Unfortunately there is no standard for how to write russian words with english letters. Whats cool is in like different cities it will all be the same, but it varies within a country. The unlikely consistancy is thanks to a little invention called text messaging. Man do the russian kiddies love that, but it is usually only available in english letters so they had to make up they're own way to spell things.
