I'm going to help aboard of a Russian tall ship (the Sedov) during next weekend, so I thought it would be nice if I could provide the crew my own name in Russian, so they can read and pronounce it as well. I guess only some of the officers can read, speak and understand some basic English, most of the crew wouldn't be able to speak my name.
